About Child Rescue Kenya
Our Vision and Values
Our vision at Child Rescue Kenya is to see a community where all children and youth have the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society. We believe in the power of community engagement and are committed to principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in all our activities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to facilitate sustainable development and social empowerment among the youth, transitioning from a traditional charity model to a development facilitator.
Our Heritage and Mission
Child Rescue Kenya (CRK) is a prominent non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people in Kitale, Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya. Since its inception in 1988 as a division of the International Childcare Trust (ICT) and its registration as a community-based organization in 2011, CRK has significantly evolved from a traditional charity into a dynamic facilitator of sustainable development and social empowerment.
Over 50,000 Vulnerable Children Reached
Child Rescue Kenya (CRK) has made a profound impact by reaching over 50,000 vulnerable children and young people in Kitale and surrounding areas. Through our dedicated programs, we have provided crucial support, including family reintegration, education, vocational training, and essential care services. Our focus is on building self-reliance, strengthening family bonds, and fostering a sense of dignity among the most marginalized, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow in a safe, nurturing environment.
We rescue children from the streets, provide them with immediate care and protection, and work tirelessly to reunite them with their families whenever possible. Our education initiatives empower children with knowledge and skills, giving them the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty. Our vocational training programs equip young people with practical skills, opening doors to employment and entrepreneurship, and ultimately helping them build independent, productive lives.
Our Core Values
Our work is guided by values that reflect our commitment to service, equity, justice, and fairness. We uphold the spirit of volunteerism, participation, and inclusion, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected. We strive to be honest, transparent, and accountable to our donors, stakeholders, and beneficiaries, maintaining integrity in all aspects of our work.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
CRK’s strategic plan promotes sustainable human development by expanding opportunities and capabilities in ways that are economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable. We are dedicated to benefiting the present without compromising the future, ensuring that our efforts leave a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
Our Strategic Focus
To achieve our vision, CRK’s strategic plan emphasizes three key outcomes:
Enhancing Organizational Performance: We are committed to meeting and exceeding benchmarks for organizational effectiveness. This includes clearly defining staff roles, building robust policies and systems, and enhancing our human resource capacity to better serve our mission.
Enhancing Programme Development: Our core programs focus on rescuing and supporting children, empowering youth, and supporting families. We work with vulnerable populations in informal settlements such as Matisi, Tuwani, Shimo la Tewa, Kipsongo, Folkland, and Jamanoor in Kitale, Trans-Nzoia County. As we grow, we aim to extend our reach to new communities, establishing physical and operational presences where they are most needed.
Enhancing Resource Mobilization: We are committed to raising the necessary resources to support our ongoing work and expand our reach. By focusing on the needs and priorities of our beneficiaries, we aim to drive significant, verifiable development changes in the communities we serve
A Promise of Leadership and Support
As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing compassionate and effective services. With the support of local leadership and partnerships, CRK is well-positioned to flourish and make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and youth in Kenya.
Join us on our journey to build a society where every child and youth can reach their full potential. Together, we can create lasting change.
